Why The Republicans Lost This Election - A Call For Conservatism
Tuesday, November 4, 2008 9:37The Republican party will suffer a resounding defeat today and the reasons for it go far beyond its affiliation with President George Bush.
- The Republicans have become a party of dissension and negativism, and the American people are sick of it. There was no hope with McCain, there was no plan, he simply reacted to each event daily.
- The Republican presidential ticket offered John McCain, too old to govern, and Sara Palin, too inexperienced to be trusted. This was the choice for conservatives, not much of one.
- The Republican strategists are still working with the Rove mudslinging tactics and offering no plan.
- The Republican party is still being led by the radical right, southern baptists, and large corporations.
Where is the conservatism and prudence of Reagan and Lincoln? President Bush may have destroyed this country fiscally, but where was the conservative outcry? What happened to a balanced budget? Letting the mortgage industry run wild for years and then having to bail out the banking industry while bankrupting the country? Is this the Republican conservative spin?
Hopefully, these massive losses in the executive and legislative branches (and soon judicial) will re-energize the Republican party to move back to the fundamental foundations of conservatism.
Fire all the strategists and their smear tactics and make the Party stand for something once again.
