Expect Edwards to endorse Obama soon

Time is running out for John Edwards.

The Senator and former presidential candidate has been quiet and remained secluded in his North Carolina home.  He has graciously entertained both Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama recently.

Edwards has not, as of this writing, endorsed either candidate.

He has been reluctant with his endorsement but must play that hand soon or it will have little or no effect in the selection of the Democratic nominee for 2008.

Edwards’ strategy of negotiation, and waiting for the optimum moment, will soon play out.

We expect that he will endorse Senator Barack Obama prior to the March 4th primaries in OH and TX and perhaps as early as today (in order to monopolize the Sunday talk shows).

If Edwards waits until after March 4th, there is a better than even chance that his endorsement will be meaningless.

The Senator is a smart and shrewd lawyer.  We think he has been calculating his odds all week.  Certainly the Clinton and Obama camps haven’t forgotten about him.
