Taming of the Shrew
Friday, February 15, 2008 10:13There is one fundamental reason why Hillary Clinton is losing Democratic presidential primaries to Barack Obama; voters don’t like her, they like Obama.
This is evident in the following Q&A with a local WI reporter. We’ll provide commentary.
Let’s take a look at Hillary’s statements to see how “in touch” she is with voters.
HC: We need more debates, voters want more debates.
BG: Wrong. The last thing we want to do is waste our time listening to you attack Obama.
HC: I have a plan to stop foreclosures and Senator Obama doesn’t.
BG: Wrong. You can’t stop foreclosures.
HC: We’ve only had one 2 person debate.
BG: Correct, and if you had watched it, you would realize that it may have been one too many.
HC: I have a health care plan, Senator Obama doesn’t.
BG: Wrong, and obvious.
HC: Senator Obama needs to explain why he won’t debate me.
BG: No he doesn’t, but if you must know its because you are losing and he doesn’t want to give you equal airtime. [We heard this from asking some 6 year olds].
HC: Senator Obama doesn’t want to debate me because the last time we had a debate [CA], I won.
BG: Wrong. You won CA because you had a huge political machine and you had poured tons of money and time into the state. You almost lost. Now that you are really losing, all of those political hacks that supported you are deserting you like rats on a sinking ship. Remember, they don’t like you, they just thought that you were going to win.
HC: The main difference between me and Senator Obama is that he gives speeches and I talk about action.
BG: You talk about action in your speeches. Obama gives hope and inspiration in his speeches and he talks to his audience. You rant and rave and talk at your audience telling them what they should think and believe. You actually believe that if you repeat something long enough, it will make its way into each voters psyche and be used in their decision making process. This only works if they like you and are trying to justify the decision. It worked for your husband because people liked him.
In states where Clinton had enormous leads in organization and time, she managed to win marginally. As time goes on and more and more momentum shifts to Obama, she will lose those well organized states marginally. She will lose the smaller, less visited states like WI by a landslide.
Voters don’t want another debate, they want her to just go away.
