Gun Rights and the 2nd Amendment

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution states: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”
Don’t let anyone kid you – the Second Amendment was not written to protect the right to hunt, it was written to protect the citizen’s from a tyrannical government.
Anyone who tries to tell you different is doing one or all of these things:
1)     Lying;
2)     Has an agenda;
3)     Has no idea what they are talking about;
4)     Truly and blindly believes outlawing guns will get rid of them.

Think back to the time of our Founding Fathers – why did they form a new government and fight for it?  To remove themselves from a tyrannical government – England, right?
So why would they put the right to own firearms in “The Bill of Rights”?  To ensure that their children and their children’s children could protect and defend themselves from England or another country as well as from the newly formed government they had created.
During the time of the American Revolution – who were the militia?  The citizen’s were.  The was no “National Guard” despite the belief of those who tout that the militia refers to the States’ National Guard units – guess what, we didn’t have states then!!

If outlawing something was an effective way to rid ourselves of it then explain why drugs are so prevalent or murder or theft.  Prohibition didn’t work in the 1920’s and banning or outlawing firearms will not eliminate them or save one life.  In fact, every year almost twice as many people (in any age group or ethnicity) are killed in car accidents than by gun violence.

The Second Amendment is the “teeth” or “power” behind the Constitution.  Without the Second Amendment, there is no way to secure and enforce the other Amendments.  If the Government does not have to worry about a citizen’s revolt because all guns are banned, then there isn’t any ultimate control of the government.
